Situated close to Heraklion, we also had the chance to visit Knossos, which is the largest Bronze Age archaeological site on Crete. Some call it Europe's oldest city. Sir Arthur Evans partially restored the palace in the beginning of the 20th century and thus revived a piece of history of the oldest European advanced culture.
