Samariá Hiking - Europe's longest walkable Gorge

Who needs to relax on their one day off a week when you can also spend the day hiking Europe's longest walkable gorge: Samariá.

We thought that as the high season is coming closer and temperatures will be climbing up rapidly in the next weeks, now would be the perfect time for a hike: a 16 km walk over hill and  dale...

Starting at an altitude of more than 1200 m above sea level, the way down is quite steap and rocky, until you reach the sea in the south of the island.

But everyone who takes it upon himself to cover the 16 km distance and the 1200 m difference in altitude, gets rewarded with beautiful landscapes and viewpoints between the amazing crevices.

At the end of the tour, when you feel the rush of elation, you take the boat to Chora Sfakion where you can enjoy the cooling wind on your exhausted muscles. And then all you gotta do is wait for three days until your sore muscels stop aching and enjoy the proud feeling of having gotten through the longest gorge in Europe.
